14 Services in AWS that use AI/ML to synthesize user information

AWS offers a suite of SaaS services that use AI/ML to recognise, synthesize and analyse user data for a variety of use cases.

You can simply plug and play or combine these services like building blocks to create tailor-made custom flows as needed for your application.

You MUST know these services and their usecases, to understand and choose the right service for the scenario.

The following are the services in no particular order —

1️⃣ Transcribe - Speech to text (Subtitles)

2️⃣ Rekognition - Face detection, celebrity recognition, audio and video analysis for usecases

3️⃣ Polly - text to speech conversion

You can further customize the speech output from Polly using these two —

  • Lexicons - create abbreviations and pronounciations within speech
  • SSML - setup whispering and any further customizatons on speech

4️⃣ Translate - natural language translation, between spoken languages

5️⃣ Lex - tech that powers Alexa - Auto Speech recognization - for Chatbots and callcenter bots

6️⃣ Connect - Receive Calls, create contact flows, virtual callcenters

General use case is to use Connect (for answering or IVRS) and Lex (speech recognition) together with further optional data processing.

7️⃣ Comprehend - Natural Language Processing. Find insights and relationships in text

8️⃣ Comprehend Medical - detects and returns useful information from unstructured clinical text such as Medical reports etc

9️⃣ Textract - extract text from any any scanned document. Usecases - physical notes, discharge Summaries, test results, Case notes

🔟 Sage Maker - build custom ML models

1️⃣1️⃣ Forecast - uses ML to deliver highly accurate forecast using historical timeseries data

1️⃣2️⃣ kendra - document search service powered by ML (extract answers from within a document)

1️⃣3️⃣ Personalize - build personalized realtime recommendations in apps

1️⃣4️⃣ Macie - Discover and help protect sensitive (PII) data in storage.
